How many ways can you give in 2022? 

Giving feels good, doesn’t it? We have all experienced that high from doing something good, whether it be opening a door for someone struggling with their bags, giving a meaningful gift to a friend, or putting pennies in a donation box. You don’t even need to spend a year of your life on a mission trip or donate all your disposable income to a charity to give. 

There are so many ways to give back; here are just a few that you could try doing in 2022: 

Volunteer

We all have skills that we could put to good use to make a big difference. Volunteering our time is a great way to give back to society - around 33% of Brits have been involved in informal volunteering at least once a month in 2020/21. You don’t need to spend hours upon hours a week to do good; it could just be a simple as helping out a neighbour or your local community with a task. 

Help a stranger

According to the World Giving Index 2021, 60% of people in the UK helped a stranger in 2021. A five-minute favour is a small yet mighty way of making an impact. Giving kindness to strangers is not new, costs nothing, and can benefit you too. One gesture from you could be the best thing that happens to that person. 

Donate blood

Giving blood saves lives: it can be a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments. The need for blood never stops, and every donation makes a difference. The NHS needs around 135,000 new donors a year to replace those who can no longer donate. Most people aged 17-65 can donate, and it is an easy and safe process.

Sell unwanted items

If you have unwanted items in your home, why not spend some time selling them on eBay, Amazon, or a local selling site and donate the proceeds to a charity of your choice. Hold a bake sale

You probably remember bake sales from when you were in school, when you begged your parents to cook up a storm in the kitchen so you could take some wares in the next day. Well, why not give in to the nostalgia – bake sales are a deliciously fun way to raise money, whether it is with a group of friends, family, or work colleagues. When all your sweet treats have sold, you can donate the proceeds to charity. 

Donate money 

The most obvious way of giving in 2022 is to donate. Whether it is a monthly donation or a one-off, you will be able to help your chosen charity by giving them the funds they need to operate. You could also support national days such as #GivingTuesday, which celebrates all that is good about giving.
